Just now, Tottenham confirmed the rumours that 26 year old forward Roman Pavlyuchenko (22 caps for Russia) signed for them. He was mainly contracted as a replacement for the leaving Berbatov. The signing fee to buy him from Spartak Moscow is believed to be in the region of £14 million. However he won’t get into action this Sunday yet, since he is away with the Russian national team.
Another excellent addition to the team in my opinion! I was greatly impressed with Pavlyuchenko during the European Championship. I can’t wait to see him in action, in tandem with Luka Modric.

Spurs looking for Modric Mates: Eto’o or Bentley?

Looking to strengthen the attacking side of the team, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is apparently trying to bring a new striker to White Hart Lane. It is reported that he’s going to Spain to set up a deal to sign the Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o. Eto’o is currently playing for Barcelona but they won’t let him go for cheap price… A hefty price tag of £15M is said to be required. This comes shortly after the recent transfer of Luka Modric for £16M.
However, not only Eto’o is in Tottenham’s crosshairs, but also Blackburn Rover’s David Bentley and Morten Gamst Pedersen, rumours go that they would transfer for £15M and £4M respectively.

Luka Modric joins Tottenham Hotspur

April 30, 2008
Finally after a few days of gossip and rumours around Croatian footballer Luka Modric (last tuesday he was spotted at Newcastle), the Tottenham board officially announced they had signed an agreement with Modric. Under the terms of the transfer agreement, Tottenham will pay Dinamo Zagreb €2,1 million in instalments of four years. Luka’s contract is for a period of up to six years and he will join in the summer subject to a medical test and work permit.
Spurs manager Juande Ramos is looking to add technique and skill to the team by signing quality players such as Luka after a rather disappointing season 2007-2008. Modric can play as a left midfielder, but also in a central playmaker role.
Modric himself was saying that manager Ramos was one of the main factors for his move. He also revealed that he is very ambitious and wants to play in the champions league or uefa cup with the Spurs.
